Dr. Shannon Holcomb is a graduate of East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation she was awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement in the Study of Prosthodontics. Prior to dental school she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education and Promotion with a minor in Business and her Master of Public Health from East Carolina University.
While in dental school, Dr. Holcomb was an Albert Schweitzer Fellow 2012-2013 which enabled her to help start a free dental clinic hosted at the Grimesland Community Resource Center. The free clinics have continued to be maintained through the DMD student organization.
Service has always been a passion of Dr. Holcomb’s. She has volunteered her professional services through the Baptist Men’s Church Dental Bus, Give Kids a Smile, Project Homeless Connect, NC Missions of Mercy, and the Dominican Dental Mission Project. Outside of dentistry she has also enjoyed working with JOY’s Soup Kitchen and Relay For Life. Dr. Holcomb plans to be involved with the Junior Women’s Association of Greenville and the community.
Dr. Holcomb is involved with the professional community as a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry as part of her commitment to continuous learning and quality patient care.
Dr. Holcomb is originally from Fayetteville. She spent one year practicing in Morehead City prior to returning to Greenville, which she now calls home. She has one dog, a maltipoo named Audrey. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, ECU football, and painting. Dr. Holcomb was recently selected as a recipient of ECU’s 40 Under 40 Leadership Award for 2016.
