Dr. Shannon Minges (Holcomb) is an inaugural graduate of East Carolina
University School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation she was awarded
the Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement in the Study of
Prosthodontics. Prior to dental school she earned her Bachelor of
Science degree in Health Education and Promotion with a minor in
Business and her Master of Public Health from East Carolina University.
While in dental school, Dr. Minges was an Albert Schweitzer Fellow
2012-2013 which enabled her to help start a free dental clinic hosted at
the Grimesland Community Resource Center. She also was co-founder and
President of the DMD fraternity.
Dr. Minges has always had a passion to serve. She has volunteered her
professional services through the Baptist Men's Church Dental Bus, Give
Kids a Smile, Project Homeless Connect, NC Missions of Mercy, and the
Dominican Dental Mission Project. Dr. Minges is now a board member of
the Dominican Dental Mission Project and continues to venture on the
mission trip yearly. Outside of dentistry she has enjoyed being a member
of the Junior League of Greenville, NC. Dr. Minges is also a member of
the Women's Roundtable Board of Directors and ECU Alumni Association
Board of Directors.
Dr. Minges is involved with the professional community as a member of
the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society as
part of her commitment to continuous learning and quality patient care.
In 2020, Dr. Minges became co-owner of Smiles By Shaw.
Dr. Minges is originally from Fayetteville. She spent one year
practicing in Morehead City prior to returning to Greenville, which she
now calls home. She and her husband have one son, Corbin. She enjoys
spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and ECU football
(Go Pirates). Dr. Minges was selected as a recipient of ECU's 40 Under
40 Leadership Award for 2016.
